ECHC Safeguarding and DBS Policy

Ely City Hockey Club is committed to providing a safe environment for our players, coaches and their families. To ensure this, we follow and adopt the England Hockey Safeguarding policy https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/governance/safeguarding/safeguard/parent . We are very proud of our thriving junior hockey section and have a team dedicated to the safeguarding of our juniors, not only within junior training sessions but also to support them with the transition into our 3 mens’ and women’s adults teams.

If you have any concerns regarding safeguarding or wellbeing within the club, we encourage you to reach out. You can speak to any coach or captain or go straight to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Abbie Ashman. She can be contacted via Pitchero. All information will be treated with confidentiality, however any concerns regarding safety may be passed on from players, captains and coaches to the designated safeguarding lead for further support and guidance.

DBS and Safeguarding Training
All captains and coaches hold an up to date DBS and all have completed England Hockey’s online safeguarding training. Within every training session the lead coach will also have completed a further in-person safeguarding course.

First Aid
Every training session has a designated first aider, and a first aid kit is brought to all training sessions and matches. Each adult team also has a designated first aider. However, if you have any medication or require medical support please make the captain and coaches aware so that they can support you.

Juniors
As well as our DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid policies we also use Pitchero to support the safeguarding and wellbeing of our juniors. We ask that all contact and emergency contact information is completed and up to date. This includes contact information of who will be picking up your Junior. The club also aims to help our Juniors’ development and support into the adults team through close relationships with the captains and the coaches.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding safeguarding or wellbeing please do not hesitate to contact the Abbie Ashman, the Designated Safeguarding Lead or any of the coaches and team captains.

Disclaimer
Ely City Hockey club will not take responsibility to arrange transportation for juniors to and from games. Arrangements should be made between players and juniors Parents/carer.
