Thank you to everyone who came along to this year's President's Day - we raised a fantastic £650! Half the money is going towards new dugouts for the astro pitch and half to local charity Prospect's Trust and yesterday Martin and Tim presented a cheque for £325 to Clare Rees, the manager of the Trust's Unwrapped store in Ely.
The Prospect’s Trust was started in the 1980s by parents who wanted to provide meaningful work based learning and skills development for people with additional needs (co-workers) and currently provides placements for 70-75 co-workers each week. Based near Swaffham Prior, their Snakehall Farm is a real farm that provides real work experience producing sustainable, seasonal organic products and produce. Three years ago they opened up their retail store Unwrapped in Ely to provide their co-workers with a more customer facing work experience.
One of our past members' son is a co-worker in Unwrapped. It is a
fantastic store and also serves delicious tea, coffee and cake so do go visit if you haven't already!
